scavenger hunt sunday

1. family – My siblings and I always gather wherever mom decides to go on Christmas Eve and this year was no different. Here is my mom wearing a red shirt, as she does every Christmas Eve.

2. motion blur – A big delivery from the North Pole always elicits huge excitement at our house as well as plenty of motion blur. I just didn’t get any really good ones because, for a change, I actually remembered to adjust my camera settings so that I didn’t get a whole lot of blur. This was pretty much the only blurred image I have of Christmas day.

3. pretty package – Santa’s elves did a mighty fine job with the gift wrap this year, if I do say so myself : )

4. glow – Little Dude takes his turn on his uncle’s the PS3 Move game.

5. sparkleHis eyes how they twinkled, his dimples how merry!

I’m taking a little break from photography, as you may have gathered from my absence here and elsewhere and the lack of variation in my 5 entries above. I’m enjoying spending the holidays with family and friends and hope you’re having a lovely time as well. Happy Holidays, all!

gingerbread fiasco

The boys were happily decorating their gingerbread house in this photograph as I snapped away hurriedly. Out of camera view, the side walls were tilting in. The occupants, Mr Gingerbread and Snow Lady, were evacuated as the collapse of their beloved kit-home seemed imminent.

Mr Gingerbread turned to Snow Lady, “The front door was always a little too small anyway, dear.”

“Yes, that’s true. At least we have each other … and, we got the Christmas tree out in time,” Snow Lady replied, leaning her head gently on Mr Gingerbread’s shoulder.

holiday bokeh

A mark of a great tutorial is that success comes easily no matter your skill level. That’s how I feel about the Darcy’s Holiday Lights Bokeh Tutorial. This was my first attempt of an indoor lights bokeh and, after looking at everyone’s entries (which are way more interesting than mine), it looks like a whole lot people benefited from the tutorial, too. I’m already looking forward to experimenting with this technique when I have more than a few minutes to spare. Thank you, Darcy.

scavenger hunt sunday

It’s been 3 weeks since I’ve participated. The boys decorated the tree Saturday morning and, lo and behold, I had 3 out of the 5 theme shots. Frosty was taken back in late Nov, I’m afraid. And Quiet was shot for my other blog. No matter. It feels good to have posted something this week. I can’t wait to see everyone’s interpretations.

1. holiday colors

2. winter icon

3. a tree – Can you tell that the boys decorated the tree (with a little help from Daddy)?

4. quiet – Exactly half a second of quiet with LittleR Dude. Before and after this shot, not so much.

5. my favorite color – To be honest, a multi-coloured image would be more accurate but, since I have a photo of my rich, dark brown floor (which I love), today it’s dark, brown : )

Here are the themes for next weekend’s challenge:

  2. BW with Selective Coloring (December 2010 Photo Hunt Item)

  4. Framed (Sarah’s Suggestion)
  5. Remember When (Dina’s Suggestion – this can be a Flashback)

remote thief

Ha! I’m finally getting caught up with my 52-week project. I set up my dslr on the tripod. Took one practice shot of me on my 4-year-old son’s bed. Oops. Over-exposed. Adjust. A couple more shots. Hmmm. Looks okay. But I wish the sun would stop moving in and out of clouds. Hey!!! Wait a minute!

Yep. The youngest of my brood parked himself on the bed and refused give up my remote. Although, I must admit, I didn’t protest too much. This is the same little guy that looked at the camera only if tricked into it. And, here he is now. Taking self-portraits!

If you can’t beat ’em ….

heavy load

I feel like my youngest son in this picture … struggling to pull a load too heavy for my size. I’m keeping busy but only managing to inch forward only slightly. Life is smirking at my efforts. This photo wasn’t even taken by me. The hubby snapped it with one of the little cameras. It’s been a few days or maybe even a week since I’ve picked up a camera. [sigh]
