i heart faces – paper

Paper, paper, everywhere! My boys love to create and our crafts table (previously known as our dining room table) is a mess of paper and cardboard. My 4-year-old will often stop me on my tracks while I’m holding an empty toilet roll or tissue box and exclaim, “Don’t recycle that. I can use it for crafts!” I have a cupboard full of these items salvaged from the recycle box.

I struggled with picking one photo for this challenge as I have so many. In the end, I chose this one. A tissue box transformed into a tunnel and bridge.

Ooops. I posted this too late. The linky is closed. Oh well.

rain day

Rain days are always fun days for the boys. This afternoon I had no problem corralling them into the mud room to get their outdoor gear on. They were outside in record time and so I let them play outside for a short while before dropping Little Dude off to school. As for LittleR Dude and I, we headed over to corner toy store to get more gift ideas for Santa but the downspout was way more interesting.

The last photo is my entry for the View from Above theme at Paper Heart Camera. It was taken with our waterproof camera … great for rainy days as well as around the pool!

scavenger hunt sunday

5 Photos – 1 Camera – 1 Hour. Yep, that’s my sub-theme for this week’s scavenger hunt for no other reason than my DSLR battery dying this morning and knowing that I’d be spending the afternoon with my favourite fellas at our favourite restaurant.

1. the view above – On our way to the restaurant.

2. something hot – And, I don’t mean our food. Still don’t get it? See theme #4.

3. something cold – Little Dude sucks back his coconut shake … the shake being the cold part.

4. electronic – My hot hubby pulled out his Blackberry to keep the boys occupied while we wait to be served.

5. sparkle – Had a hard time getting my bling to bling in this self-portrait. I blame being in a moving car and my husband making funny faces at me.

A couple of my interpretations were a bit of a stretch, I admit. But no matter. Lunch was both yummy and fun. Now go visit Ramblings and Photos by Ashley Sisk to see how others interpreted this week’s themes.

Here are the themes for next weekend’s challenge:

  1. Black and White (next week’s Paper Mama theme)
  2. I Ate This… (November 2010 Photo Hunt)
  3. Historic (Dina’s Suggestion)
  4. Off-Center (Dina’s Suggestion)
  5. The End (Dina’s Suggestion))

scavenger hunt sunday

It’s that time of the week again. My favourite photo challenge at Ramblings and Photos by Ashley Sisk. When I saw the themes last weekend, I breathed a sigh of relief. Everything seemed doable. But as always, I left it a bit too late and had to scramble to put this together. I seem to have fallen off my groove with the big fancy camera and used my little compact digital for the last 2 shots.

1. self-portrait – No young child or animal was hurt during this very brief “jump” photo shoot for my 52-week project. My ego, however, was badly bruised.

2. handmade – The boys and I made a couple of these Wednesday evening. Not quite as spiffy as Ashley’s crown from The Paper Mama, I’m afraid.

3. orange – Not the crown but LittleR Dude’s shirt. Just needed to show off his crown, too.

4. candle – Kaboom!

5. traffic signal or signs – I don’t get out much so this is all I’ve got.

Here are the themes for next weekend’s challenge:

  1. The View Above (next week’s Paper Heart Camera theme)
  2. Something Hot (November 2010 Photo Hunt)
  3. Something Cold (November 2010 Photo Hunt)
  4. Electronic (Mandy’s suggestion)
  5. Sparkle (Mandy’s suggestion)

warm wishes

Here’s the first iteration of our family Christmas card and quite possibly the final version. The photo needs some touching up. I see snot on LittleR Dude’s shirt that I forgot to clone out and, the highlights setting is a bit off. I also need to find and download funkier fonts. But since I know myself so well … and really doubt I’ll have time for any of these edits before Christmas … I thought I’d better just go ahead and share with you what I came up with tonight.
