macro photography fail

I tried photographing a close-up of a flower in our backyard today. To be honest, I’m not really sure what I’m doing. I tried photographing it from various angles but in the end all the photos didn’t look quite “right”. It was hard choosing my favourite one from all the rejects.

We have grass in the yard again. For the boys, this means the possibility of playing under the sprinkler every night after dinner for about a week or so.

With all the excitement of opening and splashing in our new pool this weekend, I almost forgot about posting this photo taken 4 days ago. My 4-year-old still demands, “Up! Up!” Sometimes I comply and give him a boost with my feet and he pretends to be a plane or rocket ship or helicopter or other flying object.

On day 2 of opening our new pool, my 2 1/2-year-old decides he’s not that interested in swimming. He stands by the door calling for me to let him inside and put his clothes back on. Apparently, he’d rather play with dirt. Must remember to harass the landscapers about putting the sod down asap.

a glance

My 2 1/2-year-old looked at the camera and actually smiled a half-smile. Often, he ignores me and purposely averts his eyes. At best, pointing the lens at him elicits a frown or a look of disinterest for a half a second before he turns away. Today, the half-smile hidden behind one hand lasted 2 seconds. And, it was beautiful!
